Thyroid Disease

Many thyroid conditions, including Grave's disease, hyperthyroidism, and goiters, can be successfully treated with radiation therapy.

The most common non-cancerous thyroid conditions are abnormal production of thyroid hormones. Radiation therapy is a permanent, reliable treatment for hyperthyroidism, goiters, and Grave’s disease. If you are interested in learning more about radiation therapy for your thyroid disorder, call us at 904-880-5522.

Treatments

Treatment for benign thyroid conditions may include anti-thyroid medications, surgery or radioactive iodine therapy. 3D External Beam Radiation or Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) may also be used to treat the thyroid.

The board-certified radiation oncologists at Ackerman Cancer Center work closely with each patient to develop a radiation treatment plan designed to produce the most optimal results for those with thyroid disease.
